Jan takes third place in the Alzu 100 Miler
Participants ride from Petroport to Stoffberg and back.
The man with dynamite in his legs took third place in the Alzu 100 Miler last Saturday (July 25).
Jan Montshioa, a former student of Sozama High School, rode brilliantly over the 160km.
Unfortunately, his position does not appear on the official results, and he is not the only participant whose name does not appear on the results.
Timing confusion
The timekeepers, Mobii Elite Timing, said, “The organiser elected for a remote timing package and as such, needs to indicate any ‘no data’ or athletes ‘not tagging in’ as they were briefed to do. No tag, no result.”
However, some cyclists were scanned at the water points and the finish line, but their names still do not appear on the results.
Despite the confusion, Montshioa still took his place on the podium.
Official results
According to the official results, Ivan Haasbroek was the men’s winner in a time of 04:58:04; Craig Beijl was second in 05:12:13; and Jayden Naude received third place in 05:18:39.
Bianca Nel won the women’s division in a time of 05:11:43, followed by Beverley Wingfield in 06:32:33 and Lasquéve Raubenheimer in 06:40:05.
Participants rode from the Alzu Petroport in the direction of Stoffberg and had to contend with corrugated iron roads, dust, wind and, in some places, thick sand.
