2 dead, 1 injured in Mhluzi shooting
Police appeal for public assistance following a deadly attack on three people walking in Mhluzi.
Police in Mhluzi have launched a double murder and attempted murder investigation following a deadly shooting yesterday evening, August 30.
Community members reported hearing more than five gunshots echoing through the area.
Gunmen open fire on walking trio
According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, the shooting took place at 19:45 when three men were walking along the street and unknown gunmen opened fire on them.
Masondo said paramedics declared two of the men dead at the scene, while the third victim survived with injuries and received medical attention.
“The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and no arrests have been made so far,” said Masondo.
Police appeal for information
The police are appealing to the public for assistance.
Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects is urged to contact their nearest police station, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or submit an anonymous tip via the MySAPS app.
Mpumalanga police commissioner Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise strongly condemned the attack and promised a thorough investigation:
“The senseless killings of any person will not be tolerated. We are adamant that the perpetrators of the murders and attempted murder will be traced, arrested and brought to justice.”
