Life Midmed drives kidney health awareness on World Kidney Day
A community screening led by Life Midmed Hospital at Middelburg Mall saw 90 people tested, with several referred for further assessment, reinforcing the vital role of early detection in preventing silent kidney disease from progressing unnoticed.
In recognition of World Kidney Day, Life Midmed Hospital’s Renal Dialysis team hosted a community health activation focused on raising awareness about kidney disease and the critical role of early detection in preventing serious complications.
The activation saw 90 community members screened, with some individuals referred for further medical assessment after possible risk factors were identified. These results underscore the importance of regular screening, as kidney disease often develops silently and may only be detected once significant damage has already occurred.
Early detection remains one of the most effective ways to manage kidney health, particularly for people living with high blood pressure, diabetes, or other underlying conditions that increase the risk of kidney disease. Identifying warning signs early allows patients to receive timely intervention, lifestyle guidance, and treatment before the condition progresses.
The activation also provided an opportunity for the renal team to educate the public on kidney health, encourage healthier lifestyle choices, and promote routine health checks as part of preventive care.
Hospital management commended the renal team for their commitment to community wellness and preventive healthcare, noting that initiatives such as these play an important role in strengthening public awareness and improving health outcomes within the community.
