A 29-year-old man in Zaaiplaas allegedly grabbed a 27-year-old victim at a local tavern, pushed her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her in the early hours of November 2.

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba stated that the suspect was arrested for sexual assault following the incident.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for a medical examination and treatment.

“Police subsequently opened a case of sexual assault. The suspect is expected to appear before the Zaaiplaas Magistrate’s Court soon, facing a charge of sexual assault,” Ledwaba explained.

Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Jan Scheepers strongly condemned the incident and welcomed the arrest.
