Middelburg Country Club rolls out red carpet for professionals

The first two days of the tournament saw the amateurs play alongside the professionals in a pro-am

Three days of consistent golf earned senior pro Jean Hugo a victory at last weekend’s PGA of SA Senior Championships, called the Senior Legends Tour, at the Middelburg Country Club.
Hugo and last year’s winner, Keith Horne, both shot 67 over the first two days.
On the final day, Horne spoiled his round with a 73, while Hugo shot a 69 for a total of 203.

Hugo won with -13, followed by Horne on -9, and Brazil’s Adilson da Silva and Ulrich van den Berg just one stroke behind Horne on -8.
With his win, Hugo has earned a spot in the Staysure Seniors PGA Championship in Scotland at Trump International in August.

The first two days of the tournament saw the amateurs play alongside the professionals in a pro-am. Spectator favourite Mark McNulty shot rounds of 70, 69 and 75.

• Middelburg Country Club’s course was in excellent condition, and the club put its best foot forward for the visitors.
