Video: Hlalamnandi residents took to the streets

Hlalamnandi residents took to the streets in protest on Friday afternoon following the sudden removal of soccer poles from the soccer field.

Residents have been pleading with the municipality for years to build a recreational area, especially a soccer and Netball field in Hlalamnandi according to the protesters.

“What must our children do after school? Nyaope?” shouted one of the protesters.

The fed up protesters burnt tyres and tree branches, throwing old TV’s on the street to deliberately blocked the N11 road at the entrance into Hlalamnandi.

Although no injuries or damage to property was reported people using the N11 could pass, including buses with workers.

Public Order Police (POP) were called to the scene to dispatch the mob.

The mob leaders were in a meeting on Monday morning with the Municipal Manager to discuss the matter, no comment could be released by the time of print.
