No power, plan for weekend
JOBURG - With temperatures expected to drop to a low of two degrees this evening in Midrand, for those with no power it is set to be a cold night.

A reminder that several Midrand suburbs will have no power from 10pm on 6 June to 6am on 7 June.
This is due to City Power’s need to perform maintenance on the power network, and has been scheduled for some time.
The power supply will be cut in the following areas: Halfway Gardens, Vorna Valley, Willaway, Halfway HOuse Estate, Kyalami Park, Kyalami Hills, Kyalami Gardens, Kyalami Estate and Waterval.
City Power urged community members to know that power could be restored at any time so they should treat all electricity supply points as live.
The department said it regretted inconvenience to customers.
With a busy weekend set for Midrand, community members could take the ‘lights out’ period to rest ahead of the events.
It kicks off with Midrand police crime imbizo from 8am to 12pm on 7 June. All community members are welcome to attend the meeting to discuss Midrand crime. It starts at 8am to 12pm and will be held at Ambrosia Hall on Allan Road. Details: Colonel Steven Moodley 082 828 6032.
From 9am on 7 June, Midrand Learner Transport Association will host a training programme at Midrand Primary. Community members are welcome to attend to find out more about the programme and how they can join. Details: Brian Govender 074 875 8624.
For the sporty, New Jerusalem Children’s Home will host various soccer teams which will play against one another in a fun-filled day. The event will run from 8.30am to 4pm. It will be held at the home in President Park. Details: www.newjerusalemchildrenshome.org
Music, dinner and dancing is the name of the game from 7pm on 7 June at Arlechino’s Restaurant in Kyalami. The fun evening is a fundraiser for Midrand SPCA. It is R100 per person, which includes a burger and chips as well as a performance by the band Aible. Details: Midrand SPCA 011 265 9935.
On both 7 and 8 June, Penny Place Stables in Blue Hills will host a graded show jumping show, which promises to thrill the community.
