Determined to see community thrive

MIDRAND - Wayne Sinclair enters Ward 112 by-election with confidence after the last local election saw his party, the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) achieve the highest ward results in Gauteng.

The votes landed the party in third place in the ward.

The Vorna Valley resident said, “I will do a good job because I have vision, management skills, a strong network in the community, churches and police, guided by Christian principles of integrity, honesty and I have passion to see this ward and city prosper.”

He entered into politics in order to be a catalyst for change and to add input in important decisions that impact society. “Godly kingdom principles are being ignored and I believe that as a result that the moral fibre of our country and leaders is falling apart.”

At the outset, Sinclair described himself as “a desperate dad that wants to see a community where my wife and children can live safely”, and he believes with his strengths in management, business and people skills coupled with high moral standards, he is the best person for the job.

“[I have] dogged determination and a passion to see a community thrive. I have developed a good understanding of what is required for the governing of this ward through my experience in the ward committee,” he said.

His experience in helping to improve people’s lives lies in his church work, as part of the Vorna Valley Residents’ Association, security in Vorna Valley, Ward 112 committee and as chairperson of the ACDP Midrand branch, as well as his fly-fishing business which attracts tourism to Midrand.

Among the problem areas in the ward, he mentioned illegal issuing of building permits; insufficient schools, community centres and support for small businesses. In order to tackle these problems, he believes communication between all sectors of the community is key. He said more residents should know their neighbours, including those in Midrand’s township, as he hopes to also extend a helping hand to them.

So far, Sinclair said he has received “very positive” feedback from the community, and welcomes more community members to get in touch with him.

“I understand that it is a great responsibility to serve the people of Midrand and I commit to providing my time, skills and prayer to see a positive outcome,” said Sinclair.
