Adopt a cot at Botshabelo

MIDRAND - Botshabelo Babies Home has welcomed two new bundles of joy into their home.

The home is encouraging the public to ‘adopt’ the cots of the little boy who is two days old and the little girl who is two weeks old, through their Adopt A Cot initiative.

“They are both healthy and growing fast,” said the home’s funding co-ordinator Michelle Hinrichsen. “We love having them in our home. Both these children came to us from an adoption agency we work closely with and we can’t wait for them to grow up in our home. We hope they find a family soon.”

By adopting a child’s cot, a person helps the home to care for the child’s monthly needs. The adopter will receive updates on the progress of the child. A cot can be adopted by an individual, company, family or a group of friends.

The home saw this as an option for those who cannot foster or adopt a child, but feel the need to make a difference. It costs R2 500 per child per month, which includes costs such as food, medical visits, nappies, formula and other items that the child might need.

One can make their monthly donation via debit order and an application form is available on the home’s website.

All proceeds will be used to invest in the lives of the children at the home, and create a sustainable income of funds for their monthly needs.
