Businesses join hands to clean up

MIDRAND - Businesses operating within the Vorna Valley area in Midrand have joined hands to keep the area clean.

The businesses pay for workers organised by the Vorna Valley Residents Association to keep the streets in Vorna Valley free of litter and to remove illegal signs.

“They also cut long grass in areas where residents complain about it and where the council is unable to assist,” said Marianne Nel on behalf of the association.

The company’s involved are Platinum Properties, Harcourts Properties, LeoGem Property Group and Ria Sebetsa Security Services.

“Apart from fighting crime, we are helping to keep our area clean,” said owner of Ria Sebetsa Security Services, Danny Maduray.

“We were approached by the [the association].”

Nel said there were a number of other ways that other businesses could get involved. “[For instance,] Heaven’s Kitchen sponsors a lunch for one of the gardeners,” she said. “We are still in need of more sponsors so that we can clean more streets.”
