Fibre infrastructure means millions of megs for everyone

JOBURG - BEING connected to networks through fibre connectivity, Vox Telecom's fibre-to-the-home is now expanding from Parkhurst to a number of suburbs across the country.

A number of companies including Telkom and Vumatel are assisting in connecting homes around Joburg with high speed, reliable broadband connectivity by providing fibre infrastructure and Vox Telecom providing connectivity.

One million megs (megabytes of data) was first provided to Greenside East and Parkhurst residents through their previously connected ADSL or through the new fibre connectivity.

The next suburbs that are being targeted for the use of fibre-to-the-home connectivity, as well as one million megs of data, are Waterfall Estate, Parkview, Parktown North, Greenside, Riviera and Killarney.

Shane Chorley, executive head of network and operations at Vox Telecom explains that one million megs of data is equivalent to streaming 60 000 YouTube videos, or watching 1 000 movies, or sending 300 million e-mails or posting up to two million status updates on Facebook. “Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of that?” said Chorley.

According to the latest MyBroadband survey, Vox Telecom is the second highest ADSL ISP in South Africa and it is for this reason that the company continues to strive to create value-added bundles for consumers. The company has tailormade a number of packages for Parkview, Parkhurst, Waterfall Estate, Parktown North, Greenside, Riviera and Killarney.

Committed to providing reliable broadband for all, Vox Telecom is assisting in making Joburg a truly world-class city, one million megs at a time.
