Rabie Ridge’s egg hunt

RABIE RIDGE - Rabie Ridge Youth House recently brought smiles to the faces of township children with a fun Easter egg hunt.

Organisers at the youth house gathered Easter egg donations from various sponsors.

Steven Deliwe said the aim of the egg hunt in the township was to expose the local children to a world they had never known. The youth house runs after school and holiday programmes that include art and sporting programmes. Many of the children that attend these programmes come from a disadvantaged background. It is with this in mind that the youth house organised the event.

“This year we went [all out] with the hunt in getting the winners (those with the most eggs) a prize,” he said. The golden prize was even more chocolate in the form of an Easter Bunny. “The day was awesome,” said Deliwe, excitedly.

“The kids were running like crazy and sweating it out for the eggs.”

Although he did not name the sponsors, he expressed gratitude towards them for their contribution in making the event a special one for the children. “[On behalf of the youth house], we thank all the contributors and hope that the children realize that a lot of people are supporting them.”

“[We are] trying to better their future by exposing them to greater and nicer things in life. We had a blast in making the day fun filled,” said Deliwe.
