New Jerusalem Children’s Home and Glen Austin High’s exciting soccer match

GLEN AUSTIN - GLEN Austin High School hosted a soccer tournament against New Jerusalem Children's Home senior soccer team for the official opening of the school's new sports fields.

 

The Glen Austin High School team won the match 3-0. Special awards were handed out after the tournament. Zolile Ngcingana of New Jerusalem Children’s Home won player of the tournament, while Wandile Khambule of Glen Austin High School won top goal scorer.

The school’s vice-principal Dirk van Niekerk said, “We are excited about the tournament as it will begin a great relationship between the school and New Jerusalem Children’s Home.”

Sports co-ordinator at the school, Loshnee Iyer said the sporting event was a great milestone for the sports department and for the school as a whole. She said, “We are privileged to play against children from New Jerusalem, and for us to connect with them through sport.”

Iyer added that the school would host the tournament on an annual basis.

Public relations officer for the home, Patrick Emorhokpor said, “Our children enjoyed playing against Glen Austin High. We lost to the better team.”
