Man in court for car theft charge

IVORY PARK - A MAN appeared in Tembisa Magistrates' Court on 15 June on charges of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

 

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the suspect was arrested on 12 June in Ivory Park Ext. 13. She added, “The 27-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle by sector policing members who were patrolling around the area that day.”

Sekgobela explained that sector police received a tip-off to look out for a white Isuzu bakkie from a tracking device company who mentioned that the signal was being picked up in Ivory Park.

“While driving around, police noticed the same bakkie parked next to a house. On arrival, they found a male inside the car who failed to prove to police that he owned the car,” she said.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Ivory Park Police Station.
