Fraudulent documents used at Tembisa Hospital

TEMBISA - Tembisa Hospital is currently experiencing an increasing number of patients who submit fraudulent documents in order to access healthcare.

Hospital spokesperson, Lesibana Ledwaba said, “We have had four cases that will be reported to the police. We are warning all people, foreign nationals and South Africans, who submit other people’s IDs as their own and who try to submit fraudulent documents, that the hospital will not hesitate to hand those involved to police.”

The hospital further warned South African citizens to refrain from lending their identity documents to non-South Africans. Lesibana said in the four cases, a foreign patient’s family confirmed that the patient was not South African, whereas the patient had registered themselves as South African with an identity document.

Recently, Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, revealed that since July, 26 people have been arrested for fraud and corruption at Home Affairs.
