The learners’ enthusiasm, clear articulation, and dramatic performances brought each poem to life.

Grade 4 and 5 mathematics teacher, Lameez Gopie, spoke on how important it is for young learners to gain the confidence to speak in front of an audience.

“It is a pivotal part of their schooling career to develop public speaking skills as well as gain confidence. This will enable them to make the most out of their high school and hopefully tertiary education years,” said Gopie.

“Having the confidence, whether you know something or not, gives you that opportunity to answer or participate as opposed to being passive and not making the most out of any situation,” added Gopie.

These performances also demonstrated remarkable courage and stage presence from the learners at a young age.
