Finalists compete for the Pendoring Trophy

JOHANNESBURG – Promoting the use of all indigenous languages so that each and every language can take up its rightful place in the advertising environment.

According to Pendoring – a comprehensive campaign aimed at promoting a stronger and wider awareness of the power of mother-tongue communication to a particular target market – 108 finalists will be competing for the Pendoring Trophy.

In a statement, Pendoring’s general manger, Franette Klerk said that to ensure only the very best submissions from 447 entries were awarded, finalist status was quite a challenge for the judges. The statement reads, “… Over a period of three days, they immersed themselves in the work, carefully considering each and every entry, some over and over again. At the end of the day, they agreed that judging the entries in different languages on an equal footing was a very interesting exercise…”

In the agency section, the craft category was by far the strongest, with 21 finalists; and the radio category came in second, with 16 finalists. A total of 28 agencies entered their work. Leading the way with 15 finalists is Joe Public, followed by FCB, Johannesburg, with nine finalists. The student category produced 21 finalists.

Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography came out tops with six finalists, followed by Vega School of Brand Leadership, Pretoria, with four finalists.

Tickets for the gala event at Vodacom World, Midrand on Friday, 28 October are now available from Corrie le Roux.
