Midland Primary and High School in Crowthorne opened five more classrooms for schoolchildren in grades 4 to 6 due to an increase of about 100 children this year.
The school was previously known as Midrand Primary and High School.

The school’s head of department, Sharira Padayachy said the school currently had 310 children and because the maximum number per class was 30, there was a need to increase the number of classrooms.
The school has its first matric class this year with only nine girls.

School principal, Sivendra Naidoo said the school was aiming for a maximum of about 500 schoolchildren in the coming years because the school prioritised quality education and a greater number of children would jeopardise this.
The project of increasing the number of classrooms was spearheaded by the school’s director, Vijay Addula who was granted the honour to cut the ribbon to open the classrooms.
Naidoo said he hoped the new classrooms would allow each child to be granted special attention.
