Ivory Park police recover firearm and arrest 33-year-old suspect

MIDRAND – The suspect was arrested during a stop-and-search operation.

 

The Ivory Park police have arrested a 33-year-old man for alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on 19 November.

The recovered pistol had six rounds of live ammunition and its serial number erased.

Ivory Park Police Station Commander Brigadier David Ngcobo assured residents that his staff will double their efforts to ensure that people are safe, both in their homes and other public places.

The 33-year-old man is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court on charges of illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
