It was a day filled with joyful tears and smiles as many began their educational journey at Jubilate Primary School on 15 January.
The Midrand Reporter visited Jubilate Primary School located in Carlswarld to capture some memorable moments as the Grade 0 and 1 learners started their first day at school.

Mphego Mphego who has been at the school since Grade 0 shared his advice and welcomed the newcomers in his class. “The school is nice, and I love the school, it has nice classes and I love the bunnies at the school, they [the children] should not be shy there is so much fun stuff to do here.”

Principal Nadine Mac also added, “We have taken in about 30 children across from Grade 00 all the way to Grade 7. We would like to welcome them to being part of the Jubilate family, it’s a very close-knit school where everybody knows each other and we are looking forward to a great 2020 together.

“Aside from academics they can look forward to all our sporting activities whether it be soccer, cricket, netball, tennis, softball and all the activities that the school does participate in.”

After a long day of school, some of the youngsters decided to share their first-day experience while parents explained how they felt when sending off their little ones.
Grade 1 learner Paradise Ndlela said that her first day of school was good, “I ate popcorn in class, we did some dancing and sports, so I am coming back tomorrow.”

While on the other hand, Paradise’s mother Nomthandazo Ndlela added that it was not a nice experience for her as she shed a lot of tears, “But then, you know, it’s for the best which is what makes it better at the end of the day.

“Paradise did not cry, I don’t even think she realised that I was there, the moment she met the other kids she totally forgot about me which makes the experience for both of us better because I see that she has adapted and will be totally fine.”

Nhlalala Holeni, who is in Grade 0, said that school was fine for him. “I enjoyed it, we danced, played and ate.”
His mother, Nhlalala Holeni said, “He was so excited about starting with ‘big school’, therefore it was so easy for both of us, no hassles at all, and he did not even cry.”
