Ivory Park mother requests assistance for her son with Cerebral palsy

IVORY PARK – Mother pleads for donations to buy a stroller for her child.

An Ivory Park resident is asking the community for donations to help her son who has Cerebral palsy.

Linah Motseo (36) from Ivory Park Ext 3’s son Lefa (10) was diagnosed with Cerebral palsy at birth and cannot move or do anything for himself.

Linah is asking for donations to buy a stroller for Lefa because she suffers financially when she travels as she has to hire special transport, “I suffer a lot when I have to travel with him to the clinic or to the mall because I do not have a stroller to push him in. The stroller would make it easier for me to take him to his appointments and also help him sit with more comfort and help him balance as he cannot sit by himself.”

She has had to quit her job due to her son’s condition because he requires full attention, “I am currently unemployed and I had to put my life on hold for my son as it is my duty to take care of him and such situations do not require a helper but a mother.”

Although she does receive a social grant, it is not nearly enough to cover the cost of a new stroller.

Besides asking for donations for a stroller, she also asked for donations of nappies and a feeding tube – as he continues to grow and move about, his feeding tube breaks often.

Linah also needs help with suitable accommodation, as she is currently renting a room. She has applied for housing from the Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) since 2012 but with no luck receiving a response.
