“For the newly founded 100 WWC executive committee, their mission is to improve the quality of lives through various interventions that principally seek to empower women and girl children in targeted communities.”
The attendees discussed and outlined several areas of focus including education, skills development, social well-being and empowerment for women and girls.
Kgeledi said that with the unstable socio-economic climate in the country they look to create meaningful partnerships with the private sector to enact change. “These partnerships will have a two-prone approach. Firstly, to increase the footprint of social responsibility initiatives by the private sector, specifically as it relates to the empowerment of women and girl children. Secondly, to reinforce and reflect the spirit of ubuntu and the social values of African society.”
She concluded, “This approach is aptly linked to the slogan that the WCC executives adopted during their first sitting, namely ‘We are about changing lives’.”
