Jubilate Primary School raises funds through a colour walk

MIDRAND – The Jubilate Primary School held a Big Walk to raise funds for the school.

Jubilate Primary School invited learners, parents and community members to come and enjoy a colourful five-kilometre walk to raise funds for the school.

Parents, some pushing prams, learners, teachers and guests took part in the Big Walk on 7 March while being coloured with powder paints at every turn leading closer to the finish line.

School principal, Nadine Mack, explained that it was their annual colour fun walk where kids wear their Easter hats as they go around the roads. “It’s is a good and healthy option which goes with the World Running Day, we were just lucky we chose the same weekend. Our children and parents walked five kilometres today.

“The event is also a fundraising event for the school, the kids got a sponsor to do the walk and that money will be used and invested in the school. We have been doing murals around the school, we have started with our first mural, and we are very proud of them.”

Ronewa Mashamba added, “I only got tired a little along the road, but I enjoyed it. I struggled a lot when we were passing the Crowthorne Lodge coming back to school but nonetheless, I enjoyed it a lot.”

One of the parents, Thulani Motlou, said that the walk was refreshing, “It’s sad that one does not really get to do this much. I feel like I should be doing this every chance I get. I struggle in the heat and this morning’s breeze made it smooth, I did not even feel like I was walking a distance – when someone mentions the five kilometres it’s surprising because it felt like two kilometres.”
