Local non-profit organisation is recognised by the Gauteng Premier

MIDRAND – MADSA CEO Chan Naidoo said that it was the responsibility of non-profit organisations to bring hope and joy to the less fortunate.


Local non-profit organisation Making A Difference South Africa is the proud recipient of a Gauteng Premier Service Excellence award at a gala dinner held at Gallagher Convention Centre recently.

Making A Difference South Africa (MAD SA) focuses on various humanitarian activities across the country with a specific focus in Gauteng as well as KwaZulu-Natal.

Due to their commitment and support to bring aid where it is needed, Making A Difference South Africa was recognised by the office of the Gauteng Premier.

The award was received by Chan and Keshnee Naidoo, CEO and project lead respectively, on behalf of the charity organisation.

Chan explained that the award focused on exceptional and distinguished contribution towards social cohesiveness and inclusivity in uplifting the lives of communities. “The award serves as recognition for those who set themselves apart from others through exceptional leadership in ensuring the well-being of communities and curbing the ills of society.

“For organisations who act as liaisons between the government or other authorities and civil society. Over and above work done by Making A Difference South across Gauteng and the country, disadvantaged communities in Midrand have benefited through our annual school shoes campaign, SPCA Midrand with the supply of food and animal care items, food hampers to disadvantaged communities and the hosting of annual Christmas party for close to 300 children.”

“It was a privilege and honour to receive such an accolade. It is recognition of the kindness of donors, the hard work of the team on the ground and recognition of the fact that a collective of ordinary people with a single vision acting in the common interest to transform the lives of disadvantaged communities is attainable.”

Chan urged other non-profit organisations to act in the common interest of the people and make a positive change in their lives. “The key to your success is to be transparent and accountable in all your actions and ensure that you remain the change agent in your communities.

“It is your responsibility to create hope and bring joy in times of difficulty as the future of our city and our country will be transformed through your leadership in bringing change,” he concluded.
