Ebony Park man to appear in court for stabbing

EBONY PARK – Ivory Park police arrested a man who fatally stabbed another in Ebony Park.

An Ebony Park man will soon appear in court after allegedly stabbing another man fatally during a group fight on 6 April.

According to the Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane, the fight, and the subsequent death of one of the men, was the culmination of a domestic-related argument between two men. Matimulane said that the fight had allegedly begun when one of the men accused the other of having an affair with his wife.

“Some time on Monday [6 April], the aggrieved man had, in the company of four other people, visited the address in Ebony Park. During the visit the aggrieved man demanded money from the man he accused of having an affair with his wife, claiming that his wife gave him his money, which she stole from their home.”

Matimulane added that their meeting ended up in an argument during which knives were taken out. He explained that during the argument, a 39-year-old man was stabbed in his upper body and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

“Another man was also stabbed and later taken to hospital on the day. He has since been discharged.”

Matimulane said that the suspect involved in the matter is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to answer to murder and attempted murder charges.

He concluded by thanking community members who helped to solve the case. “Ivory Park Police Station management expresses its appreciation to community members who came forward to give an account of what they saw.”
