ICYMI: Continue to feed families in need in Midrand

MIDRAND – Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe thanks community members for their generous donations over the last few weeks.

Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe wishes to thank community members for their generous donations to help feed residents in need.

Residents of Kaalfontein, Kanana, Mayabuya, Blue Hills and Barbeque Downs will be given food parcels and blankets this week thanks to donations from Ward 132 residents.

Deppe said, “They are so grateful that we are looking out for them as they have no other means to get food and blankets for their families.”

Residents are encouraged to continue donating to these drives by dropping off items at SPAR in Vorna Valley.

Deppe said that R100 000 was donated to the SPAR, which helped feed 400 families over the last few weeks in the Midrand area.

Items for the food packs include:

  • 10kg mielie meal
  • 5kg rice
  • 5kg sugar
  • 1kg salt
  • 880g peanut butter
  • 1 packet tea bags
  • 2 tins baked beans
  • 2 tins fish
  • 1 bottle sunlight liquid
  • 1 bottle all-purpose cleaner
  • 1 packet of two bars of washing soap
  • 2 litres oil
  • Blankets
  • Face cloths
