Rocks and burning tyres on R55 passing Olievenhoutbosch
OLIEVENHOUTSBOSCH – Metro police have advised motorists to use the R562 as an alternative route.
Motorists travelling between Johannesburg and Tshwane are advised to take alternate routes this morning (22 June) as the R55 has been blocked by rocks and burning tyres passing Olievenhoutbosch.
Metro police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said, “There are rocks and burning tyres on the R55 passing Olievenhoutbosch. We are not sure who placed it there as there is also an abandoned truck at R55 and R562 causing an obstruction.”
“This is affecting traffic between Johannesburg and Tshwane. Motorists can use the R562 as an alternative route,” added Minnaar.
If you travel via the R55, please find a different route. Or stay home

We condemn blocking of roads and intimidation of people. We urge SANTACO Gauteng and the general taxi industry to demonstrate a peaceful shutdown.
