Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo have officially begun work on the new Park 1415 in Carlswald.
Region A manager Joseph Ndou said that the park on 6th Street, as reported in City Parks plans to develop new park in Carlswald [Week ending 12 June], can expect new signage, benches, bins and palisade fencing for the local community to enjoy.
He added that these additions count as phase one of the project with phase two including re-grassing and the addition of a paved walkway in the park. Residents will not be able to use the park until phase two is complete. The internal City Parks team began their work 15 June by digging holes and planting 20 indigenous Celtis Africana trees in the park.
Ndou said that the service providers for the palisade fencing barricaded the site to begin work on the fencing in the park. He ensured the community that City Parks made sure that the service providers follow strict Covid-19 regulations when installing and that their products follow City Parks fencing standards. He added that all this work should be completed by 19 June.
Ndou said that this park forms part of Joburg City Parks’ missions to create open green spaces for the public and to promote social cohesion in the local communities.
