Northerns soccer players are offered motivation to keep fit and active

WATERFALL – Local soccer club hosts online training until lockdown regulations allow physical training.

While the safety of soccer players is top priority for Northerns Football Club, the emotional well-being of players is also important to the outfit.

In the face of a global pandemic and nationwide lockdown, it can be hard to stay positive, said the club’s owner, Theodora Crozét.

“I suggest soccer players stay active during this time. If you are not training through a club online then at least train by yourself at home,” she added.

“There are thousands of training videos one can find online to help with this. Staying active can help one stay positive.

“Also go for a run outside, play with a practice ball and keep fit.”

She said it was important to stay optimistic and active, otherwise one was in danger of stepping into a dark place. This while Northerns itself has struggled financially during the lockdown and only through donations from players’ parents and nominal fees for online lessons, has the club been able to pay its 10 coaches their salaries.

“We need to stay positive and optimistic as I am sure things will go back to normal, even if not as soon as we would like. We can take motivation from how other countries have recovered somewhat from the virus and started hosting soccer matches again. Things will get better for us. There is light at the end of the tunnel.”
