Help support the Midrand SPCA

MIDRAND – Alaris Antennas' staff members challenge corporates and individuals to give back.

Midrand-based company, Alaris Antennas challenges companies and individuals to support animal welfare organisations.

The local company donated food and blankets to the Midrand SPCA on 31 July. Managing director Gisela Heyman explained that organisations such as the SPCA need support.

“The Covid-19 pandemic saw many welfare organisations struggle to keep those entrusted to their care at the same or similar level of comfort they had prior to the lockdown. The focus on human welfare over the last few months has resulted in a reduced focus on animal welfare. For organisations like the SPCA, community support is the only option for much-needed funding and basic requirements.

“The staff of Alaris Antennas heeded the call to help our furry friends in need. The company decided to go on a drive to donate food and blankets and hand them over to the SPCA in Midrand.”

Heyman added that despite the challenges faced by the Midrand SPCA, much effort is given to caring and ensuring that the animals are fed and protected and most of all loved.

Pamela Pretorius, general manager at the Midrand SPCA, welcomed the donations, adding that Alaris Antennas’ help was greatly appreciated, as is any other donation of goods that they receive. She added, “As an organisation that relies solely on the support of the public and corporate sector, it is vitally important to us to receive donations in order to remain operational.

“Every little bit donated does help, but with ongoing bills to pay and animals to care for, donations of goods and monetary donations remains an ongoing need. “People can help us by making either monetary contributions towards our operational expenses, building expansions, projects or by donating the required building material and other goods on our wish list. That in turn helps us save on some costs.”

Alaris staff members further set a challenge aimed at encouraging companies and individuals to beat what they have put out to the SPCA.
