The VVRA are happy to see cameras functioning
VORNA VALLEY – Vorna Valley Residents Association shared wished residents a safe holiday period.
The Vorna Valley Residents Association (VVRA) shared their overview of the current year while also sharing their hopes for the coming year.
The association’s Marianne Nel said how proud she was that the area’s licence plate recognition (LPR) cameras were finally functioning. “The VVRA LPR camera project went live and has been running since March 2020,” added Nel.
“The Vorna Valley Vlei rehabilitation started over two years ago but remains unfinished.”
She said illegal taxi ranks, businesses, schools and advertising in the area were still a major concern, and the upgrade to Allandale Road went seamlessly as no road closure was necessary.
“Covid-19 saw several businesses close and left many without an income. The sewerage billing debacle leaves many complexes with bills of over R1.5 million which is still a concern.”
She added that residents must remember that council officials and councillors’ salaries came out of residents’ pockets. “Therefore, they should be working for us and not against us or not working for us at all.
“As the VVRA, we would like to wish each and every resident of Vorna Valley a safe holiday period, a happy Christmas and to return safely in 2021.”
