Phase two of the Vorna Valley Vlei project is set to begin
VORNA VALLEY – According to JRA media officer Kele Mafa, the procurement process is underway for the second phase.
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has confirmed that phase two of the Vorna Valley Vlei project will soon commence after challenges in its first phase had delayed its completion.
According to Kele Mafa, JRA media officer, the procurement process is underway. As soon as this is completed, phase two of the project will begin and details of the service provider will be communicated.
Mafa said the project is expected to take six months and the scope of work includes the construction of berms [a raised barrier] and the inlet structure on the silting basin, as well as erosion protection measures.
Mafa added, “Based on the current designs this will be the final phase unless the scope gets expanded on the availability of a budget.
“The scope of works can still be determined based on this year’s budget allocations. If so, it will include stormwater-related works, such as erosion protection measures.”
Ward 132 councillor, Annette Deppe however, said that she is unhappy because the project, which was supposed to have taken six months, is now going on two years.
