Botshabelo hopes to keep kids warm this winter

MIDRAND – Jessica Smith, fundraising and operations director at Botshabelo said that the organisation set a quest to help keep learners at preschools in Olivenhoutbosch warm, which was why they were organising a Blanket Drive.

As part of their mission to keep children warm this winter, local non-profit organisation, Botshabelo is organising a blanket drive.

Jessica Smith, the fundraising and operations director at Botshabelo, explained that it is nearly that time of the year when temperatures begin to drop. The organisation set themselves out on a quest to help keep learners at preschools in Olivenhoutbosch warm.

Over the next three weeks, the organisation will be collecting blankets for 270 children in the Midrand community. “Our UpliftED team, that usually conducts the teacher training, works with amazing preschools in Olivenhoutbosch and we would love to bless them with some warmth over this coming winter,” Smith said.

“We know that many people have one or two blankets at home or even in the garage that does not really serve a particular purpose anymore. Or maybe you are out doing some shopping for yourself and you would like to add a blanket to your cart.

“Whether new or used, we would love to pass this cosy blanket onto a child – and put a smile on their face.”

Smith added that there are other options available besides bringing a blanket straight to them. “If you choose to do an electronic funds transfer, please make sure to reference your name and purpose of donation.

“Botshabelo’s UpliftED team will deliver the blankets to the preschools by the end of May. The organisation hopes to be able to give each of these two hundred and seventy children a blanket.”

Smith concluded that they are grateful for all donations because they truly made a difference.
