The Pan-African Parliament suspended its fourth ordinary session of the fifth parliamentary sitting on 1 June.
Secretary of the Pan-African Parliament (Pap), Vipya Harawa suspended proceedings following disagreements and disruptions among members. This was the first in-person sitting of the parliamentarians this year due to Covid-19 regulations. There is no appointed date for the resumption of the parliament.

The disagreements transpired during the procession of the plenary on 31 May and 1 June as the parliament was looking to elect the president and vice-presidents of its bureau.
According to Jeffrey Onganga, media officer for the Pan African Parliament, Harawa had expressed regret following the interruptions that had occurred during the ongoing ordinary session and the implications for the continuity of parliamentary business.

“Details on the way forward, including the time frame for the reconvening of an ordinary session will be communicated in due course,” Onganga concluded.
