Success doesn’t come cheap
DIEPSLOOT– Mabokachaba said determination, support from his family and passion for art kept him going even though some captains of the industry said he wasn’t good enough.
Despite facing challenges and countless rejections in the infancy of his acting career, Diepsloot-based actor Jack Mabokachaba did not allow criticism and negative comments to get him down.
The 24-year-old father of one and University of Johannesburg operations management final year student said determination, support from his family and passion for art kept him going even though some captains of the industry said he wasn’t good enough.

He said, “I was born and bred in Diepsloot township. In September 2015, I joined Propaganda Arts, a community-based theatre where I received formal training as a community theatre practitioner and learned the art of performing art until I got signed by Contractors Artists Agency in 2018.
“In 2019, I was one of the actors who got accepted to study dramatic arts at Duma Ndlovu Actors Academy.”
Mabokachaba has appeared in several TV drama series and local theatre productions including The River and Iphela Lase Vosloo.

He has a dream to own an art and sport academy in Limpopo with the hope of unearthing young talent in rural areas. “I’ve realised that most children in rural areas have no access to opportunities like those living in urban areas. I would like to open and run an art and sport academy one day that will help produce new stars, whether in acting and performing art, soccer, rugby or netball.”
He concluded, “We need to invest more in those youngsters residing in disadvantaged communities as a nation in order to bridge the gap.”
