Midrand resident makes her mark in Noordwyk
MIDRAND – Midrand resident Asa Kariem certified her role in the community on July 18 after donating food parcels to the those who needed them in Noordwyk.
Midrand resident Asa Kariem worked to make a difference in community members’ lives on July 18 by donating food parcels to those in need.
Kariem, who is an active community member, took to the streets of Noordwyk to give away 100 food parcels that she had prepared herself.
The food parcels consisted of maize meal, samp, cabbage, onions and tomatoes, packed with either chicken, beef stew or ox liver.

Earlier in the month, Kariem had also delivered 50 food parcels helping those in need of food in the Midrand community.
Kariem explained that people should not be blind to those suffering.
She added that sometimes people take things for granted. “Even one slice of dry bread means so much to the needy and tastes like cake to the starving people out there.
“I involve my kids and grandchildren to make them aware, thankful and respectful for their fortune.”
Kariem said she has collected second-hand clothes and handed them out to create some warmth among those in need.
She also handed out lollipops to the youngsters to light up their faces, which was what inspired her to continue her work. “Month-end and in between, I will hand out bread or sandwiches. I’m hoping to soon do warm soup as well,” she concluded.
