Election Day kicks off in Midrand and surrounds: What you need to know
JOBURG – Voting stations are open from 07:00 to 21:00 – don’t forget your ID and face mask.
It is a fine and sunny day in Joburg on November 1, perfect for residents across the community to cast their vote in this year’s municipal elections.
Over 73 000 registered voters in Midrand are expected to elect a ward councillor for their respective ward and for political parties to get seats at municipal level.
President Cyril Ramaphosa called on all registered voters to take the opportunity of the public holiday to exercise their democratic right and civil duty.
The Electoral Commission of South Africa has ensured that it is ready to deliver a fair and ‘transparent’ municipal election.
Chairperson Glen Mashinini confirmed at a briefing on October 26 that all measures are in place to ensure that the election runs smoothly.

“The president urges voters to ensure that they adhere to the Covid-19 health regulations as they exercise their vote,” said the presidency.

Ward 132: Leeuwkop Prison, Reddam House Waterfall College, Junior Achievers Montessori, Halfway House Primary School and Kyalami Preparatory School
Ward 92: Randjesfontein Homestead, Country View Engen Garage, Brookfields Kids Academy
Ward 110: Mayibuye Clinic, Maphutha Secondary School, Gallagher Combined School, Rabie Ridge Old Apostolic Church
Ward 112: Midrand Primary School, Communitas Church, Midrand High School, Garden Road, Noordwyk Primary School, Noordwyk Secondary School
