LERATO MPHEFO: Being a ward councillor for me is not a job but a calling. It is not an easy job, especially when residents do not understand the role of a councillor and the different responsibilities in the different spheres of government. However, I love it still, and nothing fulfils me more than making a difference, giving hope, and being of good service to others. Following the local elections which took place nationally on November 1, Midrand Reporter spoke to the winning councilors of wards 92 and 112.
This is what they had to say to their supporters and the community at large…
CHARMAINE NGOEPE: I stood for elections in Ward 92 under the banner of the African National Congress and I’ve signed a pledge with the party to be at my best and do my best. And I intend to do just that, with matters related to service delivery. Now that I have won the seat, I will represent all the citizens of the ward, not only those that voted for me. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all voters who went to the polls to make our democracy work. I shall not disappoint you.
