NPO aims to make rescue fashionable
BEAULIEU – A local NPO launched their new calendar campaign named Making Rescues Fashionable.
A Beaulieu NPO focused on helping township animals has launched a 2022 calendar campaign to raise awareness about adopting and rescuing animals that need homes.

The Sushi and Panda Foundation helps township animals with deworming, sterilising and vaccinating while also taking in unwanted, neglected and abused animals to be rehabilitated and rehomed.
The campaign – Making Rescues Fashionable – saw the founder Megan Taylor alongside fiancé Tyron van der Waal use high-end designer scarves from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry and more on their dogs, Sushi and Panda in order to raise awareness to help animals get adopted.

“The aim behind the campaign is to make rescuing ‘glamorous’ and get the public talking in the hopes of getting more rescue animals adopted nationwide and to give them the exposure they so desperately need,” she said.
The foundation works in Touws River and Tarlton townships in which they bring free veterinary care with vaccinations, dewormings, sterilisations and necessary treatments to the animals seen.
“We also are constantly educating the owners about animal care and empowering them to take better care of their animals while making sure they have water, food and adequate shelter.
“The funds we get are used for keeping our projects alive and to continue helping the animals in these communities in which we work. Funds are used for sterilisations, vaccinations, dewormers, tick and flea treatments, medical bills for emergencies at private vets, food for the animals at our havens and in foster care and materials for running wires.”
