Noordwyk Secondary School matric Class of 2021 breaks barriers

NOORDWYK – Noordwyk Secondary School's principal, Alex Tau said that the recent results called for a celebration after the average pass rate went up to 95.6% compared to 93% in 2020.

Noordwyk Secondary School celebrated their Class of 2021 matric results on January 21.

Alex Tau, principal of the school said the results had improved immensely, from a 93% pass rate in 2020 to 95.6% in 2021.

“These results deserve a celebration. I want to thank all members of the school management team, teachers, school governing body, parents, and every other person who directly or indirectly contributed to them.

“In schools that fall under our category, we are number four in the district,” said Tau.

Tau encouraged the matrics to stay focused in their future studies.

“They did very well last year. They listened to every piece of advice we gave them, hence the results are so good. We have also worked very hard as teachers with our Saturday and Sunday classes.

“I would like to say good luck to our learners, you need to keep cool, focus on what you want to do, and make sure that you put in all the energy required to achieve all that you want to achieve.”

The top achievers were Zulfah Raban and Alicia Motimele who bagged five distinctions each.

Zulfah said she was proud of herself for doing her homework, and asking questions even if they were silly questions.

Advising the Class of 2022, Alicia said, “Just put your books first, study and you will make it through. If you can dream it, I believe you can achieve it.”

Zulfah said she had been accepted to study biomedical sciences at the University of Witwatersrand to become a forensic scientist while Alicia would pursue her dream of becoming a medical doctor at Sefako Makgato Medical University.
