Experienced former operational commander of the Midrand Police Station is adamant about nipping Diepsloot crime in the bud.
Colonel Nhlanhla Sibisi, who has been promoted to the Diepsloot SAPS as a VisPol commander, believes this is a great opportunity for him to stamp police’s authority and ensure presence.
Sibisi explained how he got the nod to head the VisPol department and a month later, how things have been for him in his new office. “Promotional posts were advertised for the Gauteng province; I applied for three posts, i.e. Diepsloot, Sandton and Eldorado Park. We were then shortlisted and invited to the interviews on August 5. I was shortlisted for all three posts, I was then appointed to a full colonel post as of September 1,” said Sibisi.
He urged to community to play a role in nabbing those involved in criminal activities and ensure they face the full might of the law.
Asked what this appointment means to him and what he is hoping to achieve, Sibisi said this is a great opportunity for him to showcase his skills and expertise in fighting crime.
“And my ambition is to have safety and stability in Diepsloot as well as working closer with the community. We need to have more boots on the ground, including other stakeholders because crime is a social problem and cannot be fought in isolation, and people need and will see and feel our presence,” vowed Sibisi.
He boasts 31 years experience working for SAPS and believes his ability to work closer with the community will be of added benefit, which will work in favour of the community
Sibisi took the opportunity to thank Midrand SAPS, and his then-former colleagues for making him the person that he is today.
“I was moulded by the best of the best; Midrand will forever be in my heart, the warmth I received from the members, CPF, security officers and business fraternity cannot be replaced. Diepsloot is my current project and will need more hands on deck to achieve this ultimatum – it’s not possible until it’s done.”
