District police confirm seven suspects arrested after Crowthorne robbery

Police spokesperson Captain Jeff Phora said one suspect was arrested at the crime scene, while the other 6 were traced by the tracing unit and arrested later.

A total of seven suspects have been arrested after they ambushed a retail clothing shop in Crowthrone Shopping Centre on November 18 at around 12:30, and robbed patrons.

District police spokesperson Captain Jeff Phora said the suspects are aged between 36 and 56.

“Primary police investigations indicated that one suspect was arrested at the scene of the crime while the other six were traced and arrested by the station’s tracing unit,” said Phora.

He was then asked where the other six suspects were arrested, when they would be appearing in court, and which court, but did not respond at the time of going to print.

According to two different paper sources, the patrons at the retailer were tied up and had their phones and car keys taken.

“Apparently, they tied up customers, then took cellphones and car keys. I went past there around 15:00, but the shop was still closed with police busy inside. I spoke to the cashiers of the neighbouring shop, and they said that it was done so fast and quietly. They only found out after it had happened,” said one of the sources.

Midrand Reporter contacted another source who said they believed SAPS was on site when asked about the robbery.
