Citywide law enforcement operation tightens grip on Midrand-Kyalami
Forged delivery bike papers, illegal trading, and traffic violations; city officials leave no stone unturned in two days of major crackdowns.
The City of Johannesburg’s ongoing crackdown on lawlessness continued on September 12, with a large-scale public safety and law enforcement operation rolled out in Midrand, Kyalami, and the Crowthorne area along Main Road (R55).
The operation, led by the Citywide Public Safety MMC in collaboration with multiple agencies, uncovered a range of violations, including undocumented persons, traffic infringements, unlicensed trading, and environmental health breaches.

Officers also carried out stop-and-search activities, inspected problematic buildings, and enforced bylaws aimed at restoring order in the community.
One of the notable discoveries included delivery bikes operating with forged documents.
Police immediately confiscated the vehicles for verification, urging businesses to ensure that delivery drivers and vehicles are fully compliant with city regulations.
The latest sweep followed the September 11 operation in the Halfway House area, where officials focused on bylaw enforcement, tackling bad buildings and illegal vendors, disrupting illegal activities, and controlling traffic near Boulders Shopping Centre.

That operation, described as a major success, laid the groundwork for the second day’s extension into the northern parts of Midrand.
Product confiscations, driver searches, traffic policing, and inspections continued on September 12, as the city made it clear that the #NomakanjaniManjeNamhlanje initiative is more than a slogan—it’s a sustained campaign to make Johannesburg’s communities safer.

Residents and businesses are being reminded that compliance with bylaws and regulations is not optional.
The city has committed to maintaining these operations as part of its broader effort to strengthen law enforcement visibility and public safety across Johannesburg.
