Public Safety Department cracks down on by-law offences in Midrand

A city-wide by-law blitz hit Midrand today, with vehicles impounded and vendors shut down.

Midrand residents witnessed a strong show of force today, as the city’s Public Safety Department returned for another city-wide by-law enforcement and crime prevention operation.

Following the success of an earlier blitz in July, officers from multiple units gathered at the Midrand Fire Station for a parade, before being deployed under the banner of the #NomakanjaniManjeNamhlanje campaign.

The initiative seeks to restore order, clamp down on illegal activities, and ensure safer communities through co-ordinated enforcement.

The operation targeted hotspots, such as Boulders Shopping Centre and surrounding areas, focusing on street trading, illegal motor workshops, traffic violations, undocumented foreign nationals, and unregulated car wash businesses.

At Boulders, law enforcement confiscated goods from illegal vendors and impounded several vehicles found to be operating unlawfully.
