Johannesburg Water Midrand system updates, two towers empty and not pumping
Grand Central and Rabie Ridge towers were not pumping after running dry, while President Park reservoir was critically low.
Following a protest by Ebony Park and Ivory Park residents over water supply, Johannesburg Water’s Midrand system remains critically low.
As of today (September 13), two of the 10 reservoirs and towers were empty and not pumping, with the third one critically low.
These are Grand Central, Rabie Ridge towers, and President Park reservoir.

Erand, Grand Central, Rabie Ridge, and Diepsloot reservoirs are supplying fairly, but are in high demand.
Steyn City was also supplying fairly.
“Erand and President Park towers are both on bypass, supply fairly and on high demand, respectively,” said the entity in their Facebook page updates.
‘On bypass’ means water is being rerouted through an alternative supply line during maintenance and may lead to low water pressure.
Where no-water cases are reported, an alternative supply will be arranged with ward councillors. “We urge customers to use water sparingly to ease demand,” concluded the update.
