Boulders Shopping Centre hosts 14 matriculants for a good luck lunch ahead of their final exams
The 14 matriculants, from several schools in the Midrand area, enjoyed the lunch, but also the chance to take home R10 000 toward their tertiary education next year.
Celebrating the matric Class of 2025 in style, the Boulders Shopping Centre hosted them to a good luck lunch on October 17, but it was more than just a lunch; it was an opportunity to clinch a R10 000 prize for tertiary education or skills development purposes in 2026.
The initiative, supported by Telkom and Mzansi Scuba Diving Academy, forms part of Boulders’ ongoing commitment to youth development and community upliftment.

Njabulo Nenjelele, centre manager, said the 14 learners are from seven local schools, namely: Allanridge, Tsosoloso Ya Afrika, David Makhubo, JB Matabane, Maphutha Secondary schools, Kaalfontein High School, and Umqhele Comprehensive School.

He said the learners were treated to a special lunch, thoughtful gifts, and an afternoon filled with encouragement and motivation ahead of their final exams. “This initiative is our way of giving back, and showing our young people that we believe in their potential. Education is the foundation of our community’s growth, and we want to play an active role in encouraging learners to aim high and work hard.
He said the lunch was a heartfelt gesture by the centre, reinforcing its commitment, not only as a shopping destination, but as a centre that cares deeply for its community.
Nenjelele said, through partnerships with tenants and organisations, as a centre they continue to invest in programmes that inspire, empower, and build brighter futures for the youth in the Midrand area.
Beyond the celebration, the programme carried long-term impact. One deserving learner will receive financial assistance worth R10 000 in January 2026, aimed at supporting their tertiary education or skill development journey.
Lorence Hlungwani, from Umqhele Comprehensive School, said: “This year has been an awesome, yet challenging year. It tested me in all ways possible, but I’m happy that we are about to close off the school chapter. I‘m ready to rock the finals, and possibly take the cash prize next year.”
The event featured inspirational guest speakers who shared valuable advice on perseverance, self-belief, and goal-setting.
Adding excitement to the afternoon, learners also had the opportunity to meet popular DJ JazziQ, who shared his personal journey and words of inspiration – reminding learners that success comes through hard work and determination.
