Digital trailblazers gather in Midrand for the 2025 Innovator Trust Women in Tech Awards

South Africa’s brightest women innovators gathered in Midrand as the 2025 Women in Tech Awards celebrated their impact on the digital economy.

The 2025 Innovator Trust Women in Tech Awards (WIT) took place today at Vodacom World in Midrand, honouring the women driving South Africa’s digital transformation.

The annual event celebrated innovators who are turning bold ideas into sustainable solutions, shaping the future of the country’s tech economy.

This year’s ceremony brought together an impressive mix of entrepreneurs, small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMME), youth innovators, and industry leaders, recognised for their achievements across the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.

From engineering firms and tech start-ups to boutique digital consultancies and rising youth achievers, the awards highlight the calibre and diversity of talent advancing digital progress.

At the forefront were the hardworking SMME nominees – women whose tenacity and innovation continue to create opportunities and shift the entrepreneurial landscape.

Under the theme: Shaping her growth. Code it. Shape it. Scale it., WIT 2025 emphasised technology’s role in driving gender equality, economic empowerment, and inclusive growth across Africa.

Chairperson of the Innovator Trust Board of Trustees Dawn Mthombeni officially opened the event, welcoming guests and outlining the purpose of the awards: To recognise women who are not only excelling in ICT, but also expanding access and representation within the sector.

The programme included powerful keynote addresses, insightful panel discussions, and contributions from industry icons who explored the future of women in tech.
