Dubula Stars captain takes his talent to the next level

Coming off an outstanding 2025 season as top scorer and Player of the Season, Blessing Skhosana’s raw talent has earned him a selection at the TS Galaxy trials.

Described as a rare talent, Rabie Ridge football star Blessing Skhosana (13) is already proving that talent knows no age.

The gifted left-winger continues to turn heads after earning selection at the TS Galaxy FC National Talent Identification Trials.

The highly anticipated trials took place at the American International School of Johannesburg from January 5–10, attracting thousands of young hopefuls from across South Africa. Blessing attended the trials on January 6 and quickly caught the attention of selectors with his pace, technical skill, and maturity on the ball.

His selection follows an outstanding 2025 season with Dubula Stars United FC, where he was named Player of the Season and finished as the club’s top goal scorer.

Blessing also captained the Rabie Ridge-based side to its first-ever league title, cementing his reputation as both a leader and a match-winner.

“When I joined Dubula Stars, I focused on working hard and doing what I love [playing football]. As a team, we believed in ourselves, and we ended up winning the league.”

The journey, however, was far from easy. Competing in the Midrand LFA Kanana Stream, Blessing recalled challenging conditions during away matches, where young players were often tested beyond the game itself.

“Our season wasn’t easy. When playing away games in Kanana, there were moments where we felt threatened by some home teams and supporters, but we pushed through.”

Blessing’s opportunity to attend the TS Galaxy trials came unexpectedly after spotting a poster on social media. “I was scrolling on TikTok when I saw the trials poster. I sent it to my coach, and he said we should go.”

Coming from a disadvantaged background, attending the trials required sacrifice and strong family support. With registration and transport costs to cover, Blessing’s family stepped in to ensure he did not miss the opportunity.

Dubula Stars head coach Sydwell Ramakokovhu praised Blessing’s development, describing him as a rare talent whose work ethic matches his natural ability. “Blessing is special. His talent is raw, but what stands out most is how hard he works. He pushes himself and always wants to improve. That is why he leads.”

The coach added that Blessing’s progression is an emotional yet rewarding moment for the club, which prides itself on nurturing grassroots talent. “We are not afraid to start again and develop new players, that is who we are. As much as it is difficult to let him go, we are proud and confident that he will represent us well.”

Ramakokovhu also used Blessing’s achievement to inspire other young players, urging them to focus on their own journeys and remain humble. “[Blessing’s] journey is his own. Others will succeed in different ways, whether in football or other careers. The key is to stay disciplined and follow your path.”

As Dubula Stars continues its mission to develop young footballers, the club is appealing for sponsors and donations to help sustain its youth programmes.
