Rabie Ridge baller Blessing Skhosana (13) earns European scholarship
The Dubula Stars United FC captain, Blessing Skhosana, impressed scouts at Levante UD ID Talent trials, earning a scholarship that will take him to Spain to develop his football career and education.
From the dusty pitches of Rabie Ridge to the bright lights of European football, Blessing Skhosana (13) is chasing a dream many footballers only imagine.
His talent has earned him a scholarship with Spain’s Levante UD, after recently impressing scouts in South Africa.
Fresh from being selected at the TS Galaxy FC national talent identification trials earlier this year, the Dubula Stars United FC skipper has once again impressed international scouts, earning a prestigious scholarship with the Spanish La Liga side.

Levante UD brought its internationally acclaimed ID Talent programme to the country, offering young players a rare opportunity to showcase their abilities while experiencing European football methodology.
The programme is a global initiative by the Spanish club to identify, develop, and nurture overlooked talent across regions such as the United States, the Caribbean, and South Africa. Top performers are rewarded with scholarships to train in Valencia, Spain, opening doors to professional football pathways.
The trials took place from January 30 to February 2 at Trezona Park in Roodepoort and catered to players in the U12 to U20 age groups. The event was made possible through partnerships with Florida Albion Football Club, Global Football Total, ISAM360, and MFC360.

For Blessing, the scholarship means he will travel to Spain later this year, with logistical arrangements currently underway. Dubula Stars United FC head coach Sydwell Ramakokovhu said the opportunity goes beyond football, as the scholarship also covered accommodation, education and high-level training.
“No child must go abroad without furthering his or her studies while pursuing a football career,” said Ramakokovhu. “Blessing will need to work hard and prove that his selection was not by chance… He must show, both on and off the pitch, that he deserves to be there, because that’s how clubs and sponsors identify real potential.”

The coach described the achievement as a major milestone for both the club and the broader Midrand community, particularly coming from a local township football setup in Rabie Ridge.
“This not only makes us proud as a club, but I also count it as a win for the nation,” he added. “It shows that South Africa has raw talent that can shine on bigger stages. Blessing’s journey is driven by dedication, discipline, passion, and a deep love for the game from a very young age.”
Ramakokovhu also extended his gratitude to the organisers of the trials, Blessing’s mother, Ntombi Skhosana, and those who have supported the young footballer’s journey.
“Special thanks to Ms Gift Mhlongo, Mr Maffa Emmanuel, and everyone who has continued pushing us forward. As the manager of the player and president of the team, I am proud of the journey we have walked so far and grateful to the sponsors who are stepping in to help Blessing achieve his dream of becoming a professional footballer.”
