After completing a six-week online Student Self Leadership training programme, 97 ambitious students from The IIE’s Varsity College, IIE MSA, and IIE Vega have been equipped with tools to exceed personal and academic goals.

The programme, designed to empower young individuals aged 16-23, is part of Blanchard South Africa’s commitment to community engagement and personal development.
The programme featured a series of interactive coaching sessions led by the co-founder and COO of Blanchard South Africa, Vivien Katzav and chief encouragement officer Jayson Naidoo, both experienced Blanchard South Africa facilitators.

Students connected with peers nationally every week which fostered a collaborative learning environment. The programme covered essential leadership skills, including goal setting, understanding different leadership styles, and effective communication techniques.

“ The training sessions progressed at a good pace and chief encouragement officer Jayson Naidoo ensured that everyone understood the material,” Dare said.

“He [Naidoo] also assisted us in retaining the knowledge by separating us into breakout rooms to let us practice and discuss what was learnt. This also provided the time to implement the knowledge gained. The programme taught me what the mindset of a leader should be, how to set smart goals, the different types of leadership styles, the different types of development levels and conversation starters to get things moving at each development level.
“The knowledge obtained from the Blanchard Student Self Leadership training programme has assisted in completing my assigned work, helping my teammates to achieve our goals, and hopefully making the team environment enjoyable.”

Key benefits of the programme include empowering students to take responsibility for their success, providing tools to exceed personal and academic goals, and a recognised skills certificate from Blanchard South Africa on completion. This all adds valuable micro-credentials to resumes to enhance job market competitiveness.

The IIE is excited about empowering selected students to become facilitators for future cohorts of the Student Self-Leadership programme.
